Psylocke discovers the Haniver estate with Greycrow and Devon holding the fort and keeping an eye on her as she uses her skills to infiltrate the estate. What she discovered is an escalating nightmare of taxidermized creatures that all have the same thing in common, mutations. As she moves through the house, she evades hybrid creatures sent to look for her, but she is also seeing strange and personal visions related to her past.
Cut off from communication and alone, Psylocke finds herself facing a dark version of herself from her past while the man she is hunting watches and waits for her to possibly become another exhibit in his macabre museum.
The Story: Wong crafts a dark, thrilling and entertaining story in this issue. I love the rise in both tension and suspense throughout it and how it brings so many different elements of the characters past to the surface. There is some great action in the story and I like that Kwannon is taking on this threat alone, but it’s a trope that can become tiring. Haniver seems like an interesting and clever villain and it will be interesting to see what his true motivations are.
The Art: Hidalgo delivers some beautiful art throughout the issue. The visuals are lively, brilliantly detailed and fun.
